Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Blofield has a long history and has some excellent examples of 18th and 19th century houses. Blofield Church of St Andrew and St Peter replaces an older building of Norman construction. It is large in size, due to the prosperity of the wool trade and the many affluent residents who inhabited the area.
The land is mainly level farming country, which was once renowned for its high quality market-garden produce. Today ‘pick-your-own’ marketing has become more popular and widespread.
Blofield has a number of clubs and associations and Blofield’s WI, which was formed in 1918, is the oldest in Norfolk.

Accommodation ratings
The English Tourism Council, RAC and AA ratings mean that you know
that the accommodation has been thoroughly checked and rated before
you make your booking.
Hotels are given a rating of between one and five stars; the more
stars, the higher the quality of room, service and facilities. Guest
accommodation, which includes bed and breakfast, guesthouses and
farmhouses, is rated in the same way, but with diamonds rather than
stars. The levels of quality and customer care get progressively
higher as the diamonds increase.
