Wickmere is a tiny hamlet with a population of approximately 100 people. There are several traditional brink and flint cottages, which are over 300 years old.
Historical bits
St Andrew’s Church in Wickmere is a pretty little Norman church with a narrow round tower and 14 th Century bell windows. The large oak doors are 500 years old.
Famous connections
Horatio, the brother of Sir Robert Walpole who was the first English Prime Minister, built Wolterton Hall in 1741. I imagine he was more of a project manager than hands-on though.
