Hunstanton was purpose-built by local landowner Henry Styleman le Strange in 1846 AD. It is affectionately known locally as “Sunny Hunny” as it has some of the driest sunny weather in England.
The town is built mainly in Norfolk carrstone, with many attractive buildings.
There are fabulous beaches and famous striped cliffs and it has been awarded for its cleanliness, amenities and safety for the last few years.
Hunstanton’s town centre and seafront are both easily accessible to the disabled visitor and the specially designed ‘sensory garden’ offers opportunities to hear, smell and touch the many plants and sculptures.
There is a summer show for those wanting to relax and a fun fair, candy floss and amusements; for those looking for a more lively time there are bowls, crazy golf, pitch and putt and pony rides.
The town has excellent wind conditions for sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing for those who enjoy exhilarating outdoor pursuits.
The town also boasts an excellent leisure centre offering a well-equipped fitness suite, a tropical pool with slide and giant inflatables, squash, bowls and a soft play area for toddlers.
There is also an aquarium, ten-pin bowling and a tractor train that transports visitors the length of the seafront during the summer months.
A World War II amphibian craft takes visitors for a closer look at the seals and birds in their natural habitat.
