Christmas 2020 Events at Holkham Hall

Christmas is a very special time for many and at Holkham they certainly know how to celebrate this magical time of the year. 2020 has been a very different year, to say the least, but at Holkham they want to continue with their seasonal traditions and warmly welcome visitors to enjoy some Christmas magic in the weeks to come. Their passionate and dedicated team have worked tirelessly to create a wonderfully varied Christmas programme that includes events and workshops covering a broad spectrum, whilst ensuring a safe experience is had by all. Regrettably, their popular Christmas Candlelight Tour and Audience with Father Christmas won’t now take place until 2021, but there are many other great things planned at Holkham this festive season for the whole family to enjoy.

Their Christmas market will give visitors the chance to stock up on some delicious food and drink produced in Norfolk and locally grown trees will be available for the first time this year, to take away and adorn at home. There is a wreath making and floristry workshop, a canine carol concert, tours and stories and a Christmas crafting event where you can learn the art of silversmithing.

Christmas Food, Drink and Gift Market - selected weekends in December 2020

If you are after some unique locally made and produced gifts or treats for yourself, Holkham’s Christmas Market is sure to have what you are looking for. Find seasonal food, drink and gifts in the Lady Elizabeth Wing and tasty takeaway stalls in the courtyard.

To protect each other, there will be one-way entry and exit routes. Capacity in the Lady Elizabeth Wing will be monitored and limited to allow for social distancing. Please use hand sanitisers provided and a face covering must be worn in all indoor areas. There will be a parking charge of £4 in Holkham Park, redeemable against purchases of £15 or more in their gift shop.

Willow Workshop - Tuesday 15th December 2020

Weave some Christmas Magic and learn the intricate and ancient art of willow weaving with textile and environmental artist, Jane Frost. In this full day course, you will explore key techniques to create your own decorations to hang on your Christmas tree at home. Hot drinks and a light lunch is included.

Face coverings must be worn whilst in The Lady Elizabeth Wing and any other indoor spaces visited throughout the day. Social distancing measures will be in place and hand sanitisers will be available. Bring your own gloves if possible. Maximum 8 participants and sessions last approximately 6 hours. Price £75.00.

Buy your Christmas Tree from Holkham - Wednesdays to Sundays in December 2020

Christmas just isn’t complete without the sweet scent of a real Christmas tree. This year Holkham have teamed up with local tree experts Salle Farms to offer beautiful, locally grown, premium Nordmann fir trees. These will be available in all shapes and sizes, and there will be members of the Holkham team on hand to help you get the tree into or onto your car. The Christmas Tree Shop will be located outside, close to their main car park. Social distancing measures and hand sanitisers will be available to help keep everyone safe.

Canine (and other Animals!) Carol Concert - 11am Sunday 6th December 2020

Join the festive celebrations of the most important of companions - our four-legged friends! Led by Reverend Brenda Stewart, the short service of thanks will include carols, readings and a blessing. Located on the gravel area outside the north entrance to the hall, there will be plenty of space for all attendees, humans and dogs, to comfortably socially distance. Price - £4.00 for parking.

Tours of Holkham Hall and its Remarkable Stories - Sundays and Mondays 6th-21st December 2020

These fascinating and intimate guided hall tours at Holkham are sure to add a sprinkling of sparkle and bring some much-needed festive cheer. Unfortunately this year it is not possible to run their fully decorated Candlelight Tours, but this is the next best thing and offers visitors a wonderful peek at the splendid state rooms with tales of the hall’s history, architecture, art and the inhabitants of years gone by. The ticket includes a visit to the Holkham Stories Experience, an exciting and interactive experience all about Holkham’s past, present and future.

Price – Adult £17.00, Child £8.50, Family of 4 £46.00. Face coverings must be worn whilst in The Holkham Stories Experience, Holkham Hall and any other indoor spaces visited throughout the day. Social distancing measures and hand sanitisers will be in place to help keep everyone safe. Maximum 10 participants per tour and the Holkham Stories and Hall visit lasts for approximately 2 hours.
