Across Norfolk there are many magical Christmas events and activities taking place throughout the festive season, catering for all age groups, tastes and budgets.
From wreath making, a lantern parade, a trip on the Norfolk Broads to meet Santa and a Christmas Circus Spectacular, to a workshop on how to perfectly wrap your parcels and a visit to Santa’s grotto by steam train. There are festively decorated beautiful stately homes to explore by candlelight, a Christmas bauble trail, festive fun days to enjoy, not to mention various opportunities to meet both Santa and his trusty reindeer!

There are several Christmas activities and events taking place at Holkham Hall, including candlelight tours, opera, wreath making workshops and a gift-wrapping afternoon.
Sundays 1st and 8th December 2019, 11am-8pm. Wednesdays 4th and 11th, Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December 2019, 3pm-8pm
Experience a guided tour of the magnificent state rooms at Holkham that will be adorned with opulent Christmas decorations and flickering candlelight. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco and a mince pie in the Courtyard Café before your magical tour to see the amazing decorations.

Diva Opera at Christmas - ‘Next Stop Christmas’
Thursday 5th and Friday 6th December 2019, 7pm
Join Diva Opera, Britain’s foremost chamber opera company, who will be performing at Holkham Hall for a glittering evening of song that is sure to get you into the festive spirit.

Champagne, Candlelight and Creators of Christmas
Saturday 7th December 2019, 6pm-9pm, last entry 7.30pm
Holkham will be opening its doors for a unique chance to meet some of the faces behind Christmas at Holkham. Learn how the concepts are dreamed up by Lady Leicester and her team, how the artists and makers turn these visions into reality and see how this magical space is festively decorated. Discover the secrets to dressing your Christmas tree by the wonderfully creative Laurentino Azevedo, meet couturiere Henrietta Faire who has created the Freya dress made entirely out of paper and be wowed by Emma Thorburn whose gingerbread-baking talents are second to none. Lady Anne Glenconner will be signing copies of her best-selling memoir ‘Lady in Waiting’ and music from pianists and harpist Zoe Arnold. Enjoy a glass of Champagne in the Marble Hall on arrival before you explore the rooms that have been creatively dressed for Christmas at your own pace. Stewards will be present to answer any questions and provide interesting information about the rooms and decorations.

There are few items more Christmassy than a beautifully hand-made Christmas wreath for your front door. With special tuition from Jo Thomas from Constance Rose Florists, in the stunning surroundings of The Lady Elizabeth Wing at Holkham Hall, you will create your own festive wreath using greenery from Holkham’s parkland. A glass of mulled wine and a mince pie is included. Workshops last approximately 2 ½ hours. All materials provided, but please bring your own gloves, aprons and secateurs if you wish.

Wrapping Gifts for Christmas

Book yourself onto a gift-wrapping masterclass and learn how to pack and wrap to perfection with ‘Gift Wrap Guru’, Jane Means. Discover how to personalise your presents and learn how to enhance a humble gift with embellishments by upcycling vintage treasures and reusing unusual papers. Find out how to tackle those awkward shapes, make your own bespoke gift bags and ensure your gifts stand out and look sensational. Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden
Christmas Bauble Trail
Saturday 30th November 2019 – Sunday 5th January 2020, 10:00am - 4:00pm
Hunt around the woodland garden for the colourful Christmas baubles and enjoy the fun activities as you find out about the birds that live there during the winter. Included in garden entry charge: adult £6.85, concessions £6.60, child (5-16) £3.95, under 5s free.
Wednesday 4th and Saturday 7th December 2019, various times
Create a stunning Christmas wreath to hang on your door using fresh foliage and natural materials from the woodland garden at Fairhaven. Adorn with dried ingredients and gorgeous ribbons to create your own personal wreath that will last throughout the holiday season. This popular workshop includes a step by step demonstration and plenty of help to ensure you go home with a fantastic creation for your front door. All materials are supplied, just bring secateurs and an apron.

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December 2019, 11.00am – 5.00pm
Visit Father Christmas and his reindeer in the woodland at Fairhaven. There will be live music, craft stalls, illuminations and an Elves’ Workshop with Christmas crafts to keep the children busy. Enjoy seasonal food in the tearoom and marquee; an event for all the family. Garden entry applies for adults and concessions. £10 per child to visit Father Christmas and receive a present (includes garden entry from 10am). Pre-booking is essential to visit Father Christmas. Wroxham Barns -The Santa Experience
Starting in November, Santa has taken time out of his busy schedule to come to the Junior Farm at Wroxham Barns with his elves for the popular ‘Santa Experience’. This year there is even more fun to be had with their all-new Animal Nativity Barn, where you can meet Santa’s reindeer. This experience lasts almost 2 hours and with no queuing!!!
Bring alive the magic of Christmas for you and your little ones including spending time with Santa and his elves, meeting his reindeer, taking part in Elf Academy and lots of singing, dancing and games in between. There are Christmas crafts and a gift from the big man himself and mince pies for the grown-ups. Ideally suited for children aged 2 to 10 years, although they welcome all ages. Prices range from £10.25 per child (aged 2 and above), from £7.75 for under 2s and include all of the above PLUS all-day unlimited access to indoor play and all the other Junior Farm activities. North Norfolk Railway – Santa Special

What could be more magical than stepping onto the platform at Sheringham Station in north Norfolk and heading to meet Father Christmas on board Santa’s Steam Train? Make your family’s Christmas extra special this year and enjoy a traditional festive steam train journey to see Santa. Relax in the comfy seats of the vintage carriages and indulge in festive treats as you take in the beautiful scenery on the way to Santa’s Station. Then take a wander around the unique festive walk-through kingdom filled with over 100 Christmas trees, light displays and decorations. Santa has also brought along some special friends this year, so make sure you say hello to his reindeer. There are festive arts and crafts activities in Santa’s workshop and the seasonal model railway is worth a look before boarding the Santa Special for the return journey back to Sheringham. Every child will receive a carefully chosen gift.

Broads Tours - Santa Cruise River Trip
Join Santa on board the vintage Broadsman for the popular and magical Santa Cruise, along the beautiful Norfolk Broads this festive season. Leaving from their moorings by Wroxham Bridge, Santa’s Pixies will serve all children a large festive cookie and soft drink and all the adults will receive one or two glasses of mulled wine and a mince pie. Whilst cruising down to Wroxham Broad the children can take part in a Christmas quiz and a free to enter colouring or drawing competition. Once Wroxham Broad is reached the excitement begins as Santa prepares his reindeer to land on the top deck of the boat. Santa will then heave his heavy sack off his sleigh and carry it into the lower deck and all children aged between 1 and 15 years will be called to Santa to receive their very special gift.

Blickling Estate - Christmas at Blickling
From 30th November – 20th December 2019 they will be celebrating 400 years of Blickling history with festivities throughout the estate to help kick-start your Christmas. Make the most of late-night opening until 7pm and soak up the magical atmosphere with the beautiful tree lined drive, festively decorated house and garden of lights.
Wander through rooms full of festive splendour and discover the glitz and glamour of the 1920s and beyond. Head out into the garden and take an enchanting stroll through the spectacle of lights making sure not to miss the view of the lights on Temple Walk, with the fountain and acorns lit up on the Parterre. Make time to discover the West Garden surrounded by firefly lights; it’s quite a sight to behold.

Festive Funday at Hunstanton
This Christmas event in Hunstanton takes place on Sunday 1st December 2019 and is free. Hunstanton will be extending a warm welcome to visitors and locals for an afternoon of fun for all the family, 12.00pm to 5.00pm. Included in the entertainment is a giant walk-in snow globe, Christmas craft fair, Santa’s Grotto, food and drink stalls, fairground rides, miniature donkeys to pet, the opportunity to meet the King and Queen of Snow stilt walkers and loads more. At 4pm, St Edmund’s Church will hold a short service and directly afterwards, everyone is invited to join in with the Grand Light Parade and walk through the town, followed by the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Hippodrome Circus - Christmas Spectacular 2019
Returning for another year, the Christmas Spectacular in Great Yarmouth’s Hippodrome Circus will run from the 7th December 2019 to the 5th January 2020. It’s a show filled with fun, thrills, excitement and lots of festive cheer that the whole family will enjoy. Combining the best international circus artistes, unique water spectacle, with aerialists, synchronised swimmers, giant fountains and the magic of Christmas, there will also be laugh out loud comedy from Ben Langley and a large children’s group from Dance Estelle.
Tickets – Adults £20 - £25, Concessions (60yrs +) £17 - £21, Child £12 - £16 (0-14yrs). Babies on laps don’t need a ticket. Family Ticket £6 off (2 adults & 2 children available for evening shows only).
