The quiet north Norfolk village of Saxlingham is roughly 5 miles west of Holt, 7 miles south east of the seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea and 3 miles south of Blakeney. Saxlingham church, St Margaret, is a simple building that was restored by Sir Alfred Jodrell during the late 19th century.
