Norfolk Lavender

On the west coast of Norfolk, you will find this popular tourist attraction 3 miles south of Hunstanton on the main A149 road. Founded in 1932, Norfolk Lavender is England’s premier lavender farm, with nearly 100 acres of lavender under cultivation. Renowned worldwide, Norfolk Lavender use their lavender oil to make their own distinctive and popular toiletry products as well as supplying many respected herbalists, doctors and aromatherapists.

Open all year round, visitors can take a tour of the lavender fields, with the summer season being the most colourful. This is when the plants are at their best and in full flower, filling the air with their relaxing and distinctive fragrance. The lavender distillery is on view to the public and visitors can book a guided tour to learn about the history of Norfolk Lavender and how it’s harvested and distilled and used in their world-famous perfume and toiletry range. Find out how to grow and care for your own lavender plants, which can be purchased in the on-site plant centre.

There is a gift shop full of Norfolk Lavender products, which are made from the farm’s own lavender oil, as well as many other gifts, cards and novelties. The plant centre stocks a vast array of lavender plants including rare and unusual lavenders, such as Lavender Imperial Gem and Miss Katherine. There is also an extensive selection of herbs, perennials and other beautiful plants available to purchase.

Visit the herb garden that is filled with over 50 different herbs to excite your senses. From woade to pineapple sage, and many others in between, they are laid out in the style of an old monastery/physic garden and can be touched and smelt. Many of the herbs here are available to purchase in the plant centre.

The pretty gardens at Norfolk Lavender include 50 varieties of lavender and demonstrate how lavender can be incorporated into a garden. There is also a large range of other plants that give the gardens year-round colour and interest.

Younger visitors are sure to enjoy the animal gardens and playpark at Norfolk Lavender. Meet both domestic and wild animals whilst learning about their natural environment.

Norfolk Lavender Tearooms and Restaurant serve hot and cold food throughout the day all year round, including a very popular carvery on Sundays.
