Wickhampton
The tiny village of Wickhampton lies on the edge of the Halvergate Marshes, 8 miles west of Great Yarmouth. Halvergate Marshes became Britain's first environmentally sensitive area in the 1980's and is home to several red kites. St Christopher's Church has some 14th century wall paintings, including one of the 'Three Living and the Three Dead', a medieval moral fable against the vanity of earthly desires, showing three kings meeting three skeletons. In the church chancel there are two tombs dating from the 13th century, bearing the figures of Sir William Gerbridge and his wife.
