Sadly, summer is officially over and autumn is upon us meaning Halloween will soon be here. Love it or loathe it, Halloween celebrations and events increase year on year, and in Norfolk there are plenty of ways to mark this occasion in 2020.
From pumpkin carving, family shows, Halloween baking sessions and scavenger hunts to Norfolk’s biggest scare experience – PrimEvil presents Route 666 - for those who love to scream, there is something for everyone this coming Halloween.
Pumpkin Festival 2020 at Wroxham Barns
Book your tickets for October half-term, between Thursday 22nd and Saturday 31st October 2020 for their Pumpkin Festival which promises to be bigger and better in 2020!!
Each child gets a free pumpkin, unlimited rides on their newly refurbished fun park and there’s a potion and spell school with Wilma the Witch. Tickets MUST be booked online so that they can manage their capacity.
Prices are £11.95 per child, which includes a pumpkin. Adults £10.95 excluding pumpkin. Additional pumpkins cost £1.50. Tickets are subject to a booking fee.

Sunday Morning Kids' Spooktacular Baking Club
On Sunday 25th October 2020 young people between around 10 and 15 years of age can spend a spookily brilliant Sunday morning baking blood-curdling cakes, scary scones and creepy biscuits all with a distinctly Halloween theme. They will then be given sandwiches so that they can box up their own afternoon tea for four people, to take and share with their family and friends.

Spooky Halloween Evenings at Bressingham
It is sure to be a spooky time at Bressingham on the evenings of Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October 2020!!
Jump aboard the Fen Railway train and take a spooky journey through the edge of the haunted woods, keeping your fingers crossed that it does not stop at the old abandoned crossing or the wilderness swamp. Will you spot one of the Galloper ghosts of years gone by or will you have a lucky escape?
Why not dig out your best Halloween themed fancy dress costume – maybe get the whole family to dress up too? Enjoy a train ride and gallopers rides, a variety of Halloween themed games and entertainers doing magic and balloon modelling and a BBQ.
Advance prices are £8.50 for adults and £7 for children. Gates open at 5.30pm, last rides at 8.30pm. Tickets are available on the day or in advance on 01379 686900.

PrimEvil presents Route 666
Halloween 2020 is set to be a little different but expect some of the same scares and attractions you are familiar with, but a whole different experience – this is not PrimEvil. This Halloween event runs from Friday 9th October to Sunday 1st November 2020.
Visitors will be sent off on a continuous journey lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours on Route 666. Tickets are limited and you will need to bring and wear a face mask. Anyone aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a BBQ and bar available up to an hour before your booked time slot. Tickets are sold in bubbles, with a minimum of 4 tickets per bubble. Route 666 standard admission per person is £21.00 plus an online booking fee.

Eerie Explorers Halloween Event at Pensthorpe
Between Thursday 22nd October and Sunday 1st November 2020, visitors at Pensthorpe Natural Park can become Eerie Explorers for this October half term Halloween themed event! Perfect for families and children of all ages, this Halloween 2020 event is sure to be lots of fun. Uncover the grim and gruesome side of nature, from creepy crawlies to the sinister sounds heard outdoors. Discover fun facts about nature and wildlife in all its dark and dreadful forms. There will be a spooky scavenger hunt that will force visitors to wander the reserve and gardens without waking sleeping predators that lurk in the trees, hedgerows, and grasslands.
To discover the heart of the reserve and to uncover parts of Pensthorpe that aren’t accessible on foot, book a seat on the Pensthorpe Explorer tour, an off-road adventure that will teach visitors about habitats, the history of the estate and the diverse wildlife that lives here. The Pensthorpe Explorer is an additional £4 per person and can be pre-booked online or when you arrive.
Daily activities include Eerie Explorers Trail around the reserve, Hootz & Friends Discovery Trail around the reserve, Sculpture Trail around the reserve, Squirrel Talk, Craft Activity in the WildRootz marquee and Bird Feed and Talk in the Viewing Gallery.

Free Halloween Pumpkin Pickin' at Pettitts Animal Adventure Park
From Thursday 22nd October 2020 to Sunday 1st November 2020 some spooky Halloween fun is to be had this coming October half term. Pettitts Pumpkin Pickin’ is back for 2020 and visitors also get to ride their spook-tacular rides and see animals and attractions for a fun family day out.
All paying children get to pick a pumpkin from their Pumpkin Patch, take it to the carving area using their little wheelbarrows and with their carving team, create, carve and keep a spooky pumpkin!

Halloween Hoot at Hirsty’s
Hirsty’s Halloween Hoot takes place between Thursday 22nd October and Sunday 1st November 2020 at Hirsty’s Family Fun Park. Visitors can pick a pumpkin, carve it on site and get their face painted, as well as enjoy all their play equipment. Each day they award prizes for the best costume and best pumpkin and visitors can join the Pumpkin Queen for a walk through the maze and help her scare away the pesky crows!

Halloween Spooktacular 2020 at the Hippodrome Great Yarmouth

Kids Go Free October Half Term on the Bure Valley Railway
Something less scary to do around Halloween that the whole family are sure to enjoy. Between Thursday 24th October and Sunday 1st November 2020 kids go free with a full return fare paying adult. Maximum of 2 children per adult regardless of age (0-15).
Prices: Adults £14.50. Depart from either Aylsham Station located in the historic market town or from Wroxham Station, the home of the beautiful Norfolk Broads. Booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.

Halloween at Holkham
In 2019 the Holkham Estate put on a whole host of spook-tacular activities for the whole family, including quizzes to uncover the witch and her wicked spell, potion commotion in the walled garden, face painting, pumpkin carving, cycle trails and even Quidditch. This year things might be a bit different, with the current situation we all find ourselves in, but their website promises to release full details of their Halloween 2020 events soon!
