2018 Halloween Events in Norfolk

The nights are pulling in and shops are being stocked with pumpkins, lanterns, dressing up costumes and other freakish items to terrify the county. Whether you love it or loathe it, Halloween has become a big event across the UK, Norfolk included! Wednesday 31st October 2018, will soon be upon us, so dig out your witch’s or wizard’s hat, locate your broomstick and start practicing your prosthetic-application skills and face painting, you haven’t got long.

From family fun entertainment to strictly over 18 events, there is something to suit all ages and dispositions in Norfolk this forthcoming Halloween. Here is a selection……..

Halloween Days at Roarr Dinosaur Adventure

18th - 28th October 2018

At Roarr, in Lenwade Norfolk, Halloween starts on the 18th October 2018. And if you arrive in fancy dress, you get a 50% discount on the gate. The park will get a trick or treat make over with a Day of the Dead theme. Enjoy Dippy’s Spooky Maze, Dippy’s Spooky fun zone and Halloween crafts in the Secret Animal Garden. Mayhem Monster Manor is new for 2018; explore the Manor in groups and meet some of the less scary inhabitants. Expect a spooky day out when you visit Roarr during their Halloween Days.

The Halloween Spooktacular Circus

18th -31st October 2018

The Hippodrome on St. Georges Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk is home to The Halloween Spooktacular Circus. This is the ultimate spooky circus experience and comedy extravaganza that includes Hippodrome favourites, Jack Jay and Johnny Mac. Visit the circus during the above dates for this family friendly Spooktacular show and cast of international acts.

Promising to be a monster hit, there will be lots of audience interaction in this Halloween themed circus show, and visitors of all ages are encouraged to come in full fancy dress.

12th October - 3rd November 2018

Billed as Norfolk’s biggest scare experience, PrimEVIL is back and promises to be the most terrifying experience ever, during their 17 nights of terror. Located in Lenwade, Norfolk, at Roarr Dinosaur Adventure.

With frightening haunts and attractions, your blood is sure to run cold during your PrimEVIL experience. New for 2018 is live music every night from the PrimEvil band, Thy Last Drop. Watch the demonic horde of PrimEvil street performers and Hot Zoo performers. There is also a licensed bar, BBQ and food vendors.

PrimEVIL runs from 6pm until 11pm on specific nights and group bookings of 15 or more can save by booking in advance. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult and please be aware the event is aimed at adults and those aged over 12. PrimEvil Extreme is on the 2nd and 3rd November 2018 and is strictly for those 18 and over.

The Real Halloween

27th and 28th October 2018

Bradmoor Woods, near Swaffham, in west Norfolk is where The Real Halloween 2018 will take place, between the 27th and 28th October. Organised by the Fairyland Trust, this event is suitable for the whole family and promises to be a far cry from the normal ghosts and ghouls traditionally associated with Halloween. It’s a non-plastic event and in the spirit of the original, traditional Halloween, it celebrates nature in autumn.

Visit the beautiful wooded site in Bradmoor Woods and explore the walks, learn how to be a wizard or witch, visit the Wildlife Hospital, make a jam jar lantern, visit the witches’ kitchen, play Halloween games and have your face painted. Meet the Fairy Queen and King, enjoy the food stalls, the Good Elf Pub and Café and listen to the Real Halloween Story. Take part in the Parade of Lantern Animals and marvel at the Fire Show; there is so much fun to be had and not a scare in sight!

Norwich Puppet Theatre

Children’s Workshop: Halloween Characters - between 10:30am and 12 noon there is a children’s workshop at Norwich Puppet Theatre, located north of the city centre, adjacent to the Barrack Street/Whitefriars roundabout.

Children over 5 can make Halloween characters such as werewolves and vampires and ghosts and ghouls; there are lots of spooky characters to choose from. Inspired by the puppets used in the Theatre’s performances, this Halloween workshop gives children the chance to get creative using a wide range of different materials. At the end of the workshop, children can take their Halloween creations home for their own private shows.

Family Workshop: Day of the Dead – between 10.30am and 12 noon there is a family workshop at Norwich Puppet Theatre, situated to the north of the city centre and adjacent to the Barrack Street/Whitefriars roundabout.

Bring the family and make characters inspired by the Mexican holiday Día de Muertos, or ‘Day of the Dead’. This holiday is an explosion of colour, with flower and skull decorations and celebrates a tradition of coming together and celebrating the lives of lost family members and friends.

The event is suitable for the whole family (children must be 3+), it is sure to be a fun-packed workshop where everyone can enjoy being creative making puppets.

Norwich Ghost Walks

28th - 31st October 2018

For an evening of blood curdling entertainment, join The Shadowcaster and his entourage for one of these special shows. For re-enactments of some of the region’s most haunted stories, be prepared to be spooked. Make sure you dress warm, and also come dressed up as the best costume wins a prize.

The Day of the Dead Halloween Weekender

26th - 28th October 2018

Mantra Club and Lounge, Prince of Wales Road, Norwich.

Thursday – Friday 10.00pm – 4:00am

Saturday 9:00pm - 4:00am

This Halloween weekend is when the spirits are out, and evil is in the air. Visit Mantra Club and Lounge for one of the biggest, scariest, craziest, loudest and most terrifying events of the year and be at the most gruesome party of the century.

Expect a weekend of horror from Thursday through to Saturday in Mantra’s ’Day of the Dead festival Weekender’. Mantra will be transformed into the ultimate scare nightclub, there is nothing else quite like it………expect the unexpected.

The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade

The magical woodland of BeWILDerwood, Horning Rd, Hoveton, Norwich will be adorned with spooky decorations during this Halloween themed event. Suitable for the whole family, meet the BeWILDerbats and run wild through the tree houses and zip on the zip wires.

Visitors can get creative in their Big Hat and make a beautiful lantern for a Slitherigrub to live in. Wear your best spooky costumes and pay their Face Painting Pavilion a visit, for a truly spooktacular Halloween transformation. Then, take your carefully hand-crafted lantern and see BeWILDerwood in a magical light extravaganza at dusk, as all the inhabitants come out to celebrate their Glorious Glowing lantern parade.

LOCO Horror Train

22nd - 31st October 2018

The Mid-Norfolk Railway, Dereham, is the venue for this experience………are you brave enough to board?

A Halloween event like no other is heading to the UK for the first time and is produced by some of America’s top Halloween Scare Attraction experts. The UK’s first extreme live scare train trip, the LOCO Horror Train is not for the faint-hearted!

Running for 10 nights in Norfolk, these truly terrifying performances aim to push you to your limits, with a scare crew and cast of almost 70. Passengers will travel over 20 miles of available terror-stricken track; interruption is vague but inevitable and most certainly traumatic.

Spooky City

Everyone is invited to the city’s annual free Halloween party in the city centre, 6-8pm, Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich. This event is free and is suitable for the whole family.

Wear your creepiest costumes and take part in the spooky city parade through the streets of Norwich.

Spooktacular Halloween Trail

18th – 28th October 2018

Wild Things at Strumpshaw Fen, Strumpshaw, Norwich, runs 10am till 4pm daily during the above dates.

An RSPB reserve, on the River Yare in Norfolk, Strumpshaw Fen is around six miles east of Norwich. This event is fun for all the family on their self-guided Halloween Trail. Find hidden pumpkins, discover the secrets of their spooky wildlife and complete ’Wild Challenges’ to earn a ’Trick or Treat’ prize. Are you brave enough to get up close to their creepiest neighbours? A drop-in event, there is no need to book, simply turn up on the day. Halloween costumes will be most welcome.

Spooks and Sparks in the Park

27th October 2018

Visit this Halloween event at Catton Park, on the northern outskirts of Norwich. A fun packed event for the whole family, from 4pm – 8pm. There will be a full-sized funfair, two professional firework displays, entertainment from the Unhinged Circus performers and a new a bigger food court.

Halloween at Fairhaven

31st October 2018

Enter the fiendish world of twisted fairy tales at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, in South Walsham, Norwich. With the Foolhardy Circus performing in their wicked woodland, join the fun in this spooktacular Halloween event. Do you dare to take a walk in the woods at night? Will you live to tell the tale?

With live music, a devilishly good hot dog stall and lots more, this Halloween event at Fairhaven is suitable for the whole family (as long as they are aged 3 and over!) Dress code is diabolical, so get creative and dress up in your best Halloween outfits.

From 6:00pm - 8:00pm, the firework finale is at 7.45pm.

This is a ticket only event and there are limited ticket numbers. Please note this event is not suitable for children under 3, pushchairs and dogs and children must be accompanied.
