Hostels in Norfolk
Published date: March 2020

Hostels have self-catering facilities and provide budget friendly accommodation for just one night or a longer stay. Located all over the UK, they range from city houses to rural barns and are the perfect base to explore the outdoors and for independent affordable travel.
Accommodation can vary greatly, from bunk beds in a dormitory to private rooms and some even have en-suites. Hostels all have one common element and that is shared areas such as kitchens, lounges and gardens. Some offer home-cooked food and some have licenced bars. Norfolk has some highly rated hostels that provide comfortable and value for money accommodation for those wishing to stay in the region without breaking the bank.
Deepdale Backpackers & Camping
Situated in the popular village of Burnham Deepdale, on the picturesque north Norfolk coast, Deepdale Backpackers & Camping is an award-winning eco-friendly independent backpackers’ hostel and campsite that is open all year round. Find comfortable self-catering accommodation for solo travellers, couples and small groups, in private en-suite rooms and dormitories.
Ideally located to explore the beautiful Norfolk coast, visitors can discover the tranquillity of the saltmarshes in spring time, enjoy a long winter walk along the Norfolk Coast Path, marvel at the big wide skies in the summer and watch birds migrate to their winter homes during the autumn months. Whatever time of year, Deepdale Backpackers & Camping has a variety of accommodation at affordable prices.
Their visitor information centre is open each day and offers helpful and knowledgeable advice such as walking routes, places of interest in the region, the local Coasthopper bus service, train services and bike hire.
Deepdale is dog friendly, and you would be hard pressed to find a pub on the north Norfolk Coast that doesn’t accept dogs. You can bring up to two dogs to Deepdale if you have booked a dog friendly room, but they do ask you kindly follow a few simple rules: no dogs on beds or furniture or in the kitchen or living room. Dogs must not be left unattended in your room - for their comfort and that of other guests. Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead – they are a working farm, and you must ensure you clean up after your dog, wherever they mess. Dog walking info is available at Deepdale Visitor Information Centre. Dogs are £5 per dog per night.
A café is located next door- Deepdale Café, serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and snacks throughout the day, using locally sourced produce where possible. There is also a range of shops including a supermarket and pop up shops that regularly change. There are two excellent pubs in the village, The Jolly Sailors and The White Horse, both within walking distance of the hostel.
Facilities at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping include:
A well-equipped kitchen, including cookers, fridges and freezer, communal dining area, lounge with Freesat TV, wheelchair accessible rooms, free wi-fi, underfloor heating, laundry with drying room, courtyard and BBQ area, visitor information centre, bike hire, payphone, petrol station and luggage storage.
