Located in St Benedict’s Street, Norwich, close to the city centre, Norwich Arts Centre is internationally recognised and a contemporary arts venue delivering a wide programme of live music, theatre, live art, dance, visual art, family performances, exhibitions, comedy and literature. A small, independently run venue with charitable status, its mission is to support the development of artists and nurture emerging talent across a range of art forms and is considered by some as one of the best small venues in Britain.
In 2014 Norwich Arts Centre received the prestigious NME Britain’s Best Small Venue award, having been shortlisted for the award in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In the same year it was also honoured with both a Dr Frank Bates Musical Theatre and Dance Award and an EDP People’s Choice Award for best small to mid-scale venue, festival or organisation. In 2015 and 2016 Norwich Arts Centre received the LIVE UK Music Business Awards for Best Venue Teamwork.
Housed within a converted church originally built in 1349, the auditorium can cater for both seated and standing events and has many original features of St Swithin’s church intact. Enjoy a diverse live programme from rock and pop, jazz and folk music to rising comedy stars, children’s theatre and creative workshops.
Norwich Arts Centre is a small, not-for-profit charitable organisation and welcomes supporters and donations. Those who purchase a NAC Supporter Card enjoy a wide range of benefits as well as knowing they are contributing to the future of this much-loved gem of a venue.
The auditorium and bar at Norwich Arts Centre are available to hire for functions, weddings and civil service receptions and conferences. In the heart of Norwich’s cultural community, this Grade 1 listed flint structure, dating back to the 14th century makes a unique venue to host all manner of events and is the perfect setting for those who are looking for something a little bit different.
